Republican State Leadership Committee sends $400,000 more to Justice for All NC just over a week before election day
The D.C.-based Republican State Leadership Committee has given $400,000 to Justice for All NC, a North Carolina-based super PAC that has already spent heavily in one of this year's state Supreme Court races. In total this year, the RSLC has given $1.3 million to Justice for All, the vast majority of its funding. The American Federation for Children has also contributed to the super PAC, giving a total of $75,000 in May and October.
During the primary, Justice for All spent $899,000 on television ads attacking Justice Robin Hudson, who is running to keep her seat on the state Supreme Court. So far, no records of ad buys exist on the FCC website or the State Board of Elections. No outside groups have reported spending on any of the eight Supreme Court and Court of Appeals races in the general elections, although the candidates themselves have spent heavily.
The RSLC receives money from corporations and individuals around the country, including many North Carolina-based companies such as Reynolds American, Time Warner Cable, and Duke Energy.
The NC Judicial Coalition, a super PAC that spent nearly two million in support of Justice Paul Newby in his 2012 Supreme Court election, has received $110,000 in donations from Reynolds American, Medical Mutual, and others in recent months. With money flowing to the two biggest spenders in the 2012 Supreme Court race, it is very likely they will spend in this final week before the elections.
