NC Chamber IE reports $200,000 of independent spending in the third quarter, mostly benefiting Republicans

The independent expenditure arm of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce has reported $205,565 in independent expenditures during September and October. Most of the expenditures came in the form of mailers supporting seven incumbent House and Senate members who are running for re-election.

NC Citizens for Protecting Our Schools expands its ad campaign to nearly $300,000

The liberal-leaning 501(c)(4) group, NC Citizens for Protecting Our Schools, has bought more TV ad time at WLOS in Asheville, bringing its total TV ad spending this year to just over $298,000.

N.C. Families First increases TV ad buy to over $900,000

According to Federal Communications Commission records, the liberal-leaning 527 political group, North Carolina Families First, has increased its ad buy in the Raleigh-Durham area, raising the total to over $910,000. At least some of these ads target Rep. Mike Stone (R-51).

Recent reports show spending supporting and opposing pro-fracking candidates

Recent reports posted on the NC State Board of Elections website show state legislative candidates who support hydraulic fracturing are seeing significant money spent supporting and opposing them by outside groups.

RSLC continues receiving NC contributions, funds NC super PAC

The Republican State Leadership Committee's July FEC report shows more receipts from North Carolina companies such as the state's biggest donor to the group, Reynolds American. Reynolds gave over $50,000 to the RSLC last month, bringing its yearly total to nearly $427,000 and over $1.1 million this election cycle. Bank of America added $25,000, which makes its total to the RSLC about $100,000 for 2013-14.

The first quarter report from Mainstreet Merchants for a Better North Carolina shows over $23,000 in indepedent expenditures leading up to the May 6 primary. The conservative-leaning 527 organization bought newspaper ads and billboards supporting ten Repubican and three Democratic state legislators.

Large donations from NC companies to RSLC when it funded Robin Hudson attack ads

The Republican State Leadership Committee's April financial report was posted to the IRS site this week, showing large contributions from North Carolina-based companies. These transactions happened during the period in which the RSLC funded Justice for All NC's $800,000 attack ad against incumbent Supreme Court Justice Robin Hudson.

$2.5 million of outside money floods state-level races in NC primary election
